How often does one hear the words "enjoy being single while you can". its almost like the society if frowning on people that are thinking/considering/attempting a serious relationship. yeah, it takes two to tango and you have to look out for the feet of the other person, especially if they are trying to lead through a section, but it kinda gets boring to dance on one's own.
my policy is "make the best of what you have, and do not stress over what you don't".

Rightly said Grish.
"Enjoy being single while you can" could also be re-interpreted in an Orthodox way by saying: enjoy going on pilgrimages, enjoy working for the Church, enjoy cleansing and consolidating your soul while you still have the chance to before you enter into the ship of a family. Single life, in my opinion, is for building your navigation skills for the real test of driving the ship of your family through rough seas of temptations to the calmer waters of love and forgiveness. ~Boris |

The question "is being single over rated or not?"
From what persective are you looking at a single life? Are you happy? What image do you have of a single life that would warrant such a question? There is neither anything wrong with being single, married, or monastic. |

well i am glad to see that i was able to spark a bit of a discussion.
some one once told me that "all your troubles don't end when you marrie". this is verry true, and i am sure all of us can attest to this through observations of our relatives and of people we know. marriage is no easy topic, there is no Silver bullet.

I was told by a monastic that Marriage is hard work, 99% perspiration, and 1% inspiration. I have no illusions of marriage, it is a sacrifice, but one willingly made.
